Title Nine Crash Tights Fit

I am 5’5″ with an average torso and typically wear size large. These leggings fit true to size, with a widened waistband that stays in place. Although labelled as mid-rise, they feel more like high-rise on me, which I appreciate as it provides excellent coverage for the lower back when bending and moving.

As someone who runs cold, I really appreciate stylish, warm clothing. For me, keeping my feet warm is a challenge and the best way is to keep my legs warm. The crash tights do both helping me keep my body temperature more stable in colder weather.

Title Nine Crash Tights Performance

What is the ideal temperature range?

The Crash 2.0 Polartec® Tights are designed to provide warmth and comfort in cold weather conditions. While individual comfort levels can vary, these tights are generally suitable for temperatures ranging from approximately -15°C to 5°C.

What activities are they best for?
In cool temps (5C down to -5C) the crash tights would be comfortably worn as the only layer or outer layer for light hiking, wearing around camp, shoveling snow or other lower cardio output activities.

In colder temps (-5C down to -15/-20) these tights would be great for higher output activities that generate more heat like running, winter hiking, XC skiing, snowshoeing, and ice climbing. They are also great for wearing as a base layer under waterproof pants for alpine skiing and ski touring.

In extremely cold temps (-20C and below), these tights would need to be a base or mid-layer under snowpants for added warmth.

Can they be worn as a base layer?
Yes, 100%. I definitely prefer them as a base layer under just a hard shell or rain pant. This setup provides excellent breathability and flexibility, making it perfect for activities like hiking or skiing where you need a good range of motion.

However, I find them too hot under insulated snowpants unless I’m standing around in extremely cold conditions, like -20°C, or engaging in activities like snowmobiling where you’re exposed to the cold for long periods. In those scenarios, the extra warmth from insulated snowpants is necessary, but otherwise, the base layer is sufficient.

Fall Hiking in the Snow

In British Columbia, fall brings the beauty of snowy alpine peaks and the crisp chill of frosty mornings. As the temperatures drop, I find myself reaching for these leggings every time I prepare for a brisk morning hike. They’re perfect for providing warmth without any restriction, allowing me to move freely and comfortably over any kind of terrain. The leggings stay securely in place without riding down, even during the most vigorous climbs.

Plus, the convenient side pocket is ideal for easy access to my phone, whether I’m capturing the stunning scenery or checking the trail map. With their perfect blend of functionality and comfort, these leggings will undoubtedly become a staple in my winter hiking gear, accompanying me on many adventures through the breathtaking BC wilderness.

Lounging

The first few times I wore the crash tights, I decided to try them out while working from home. Since we live in an older house that tends to be a bit drafty, I usually have to bundle up with multiple layers just to stay warm. I often find myself wrapped in blankets or wearing thick sweaters and socks to combat the chill. However, with the crash tights on, I noticed a significant difference.

I was able to wear fewer layers and still feel comfortable, which was a pleasant surprise. The tights kept my legs and feet warm, allowing me to enjoy having toasty feet without the usual bulkiness. It made my work-from-home experience much more comfortable and cozy.

Daily Baby Walks

As a new mom, facing the task of bundling up for winter walks can feel daunting. The idea of putting on multiple layers and snowpants just to stay warm is far from appealing. That’s why I was thrilled to discover the Crash tights, which keep me cozy without the need for layering up excessively.

They’re incredibly easy to throw on and head out the door, making the process of getting ready much quicker and less of a hassle. Plus, they come with a handy pocket for my phone and cards, so I don’t have to carry an extra bag or dig through the deep pockets of my coat with one hand.

This convenience is a game-changer, allowing me to focus on enjoying the walk rather than worrying about what I might be forgetting. It’s safe to say these tights are a definite winner for moms navigating winter weather!

Final Thoughts

The Crash 2.0 Polartec® Tights do live up to the hype in their reviews. Title Nine did a great job getting the fit and function of these tights just right.  They are perfect for any activity in cooler temperatures, whether it be a hike, run, or even just lounging at home. The added bonus of the side pocket also makes them convenient for carrying your phone on the go. These tights will definitely be a staple in my wardrobe during the colder months and I highly recommend giving them a try!
