This summer Mom and I travelled to Scotland and Greece and the Salmon Instincts were her all-in-one shoe for this 2 week adventure. Mom found this shoe to be light weight, supportive and comfortable, great for our trip. Check out my video review on Get Out there Magazine!

The sole was study and grippy over the rough Scottish terrain and the tread was deep enough to provide sufficient traction in the muddy, wet conditions. These shoes kept mom’s feet dry in the rain but also dry and cool on the hotter days because of the well designed ventilation.

The Instincts have front and back webbing loops to help you get them on easily. Then on the inside, the Ortholite footbed was very comfortable providing great arch support meaning she was able to walk miles and miles on trail or in the urban centres. These shoes also packed well onto our backpacks because they folded down well and being so lightweight, she didn’t mind carrying them around.

Be sure to try the Instinct’s on in store if possible as I found the sizing runs about 1.5-2 sizes bigger than normal. I usually wear an 8-8.5 and the Instincts at 8.5 were still about a 1/2 size too big for my mom who usually wears a 9.5-10.

All in all these shoes were great for our adventure travel trip having all the right elements for the activities were doing and places we visited. I think these shoes would be great as 3 season shoes for day to day wear or as light hikers.
