The Fit of the Kresta 30

The Osprey Kresta 30 is the perfect size for day touring. It hugs my body and inherently keeps the weight close to my centre of gravity. The back panel is comfortable as are the shoulder straps and hip belt.

I find it easy to reach the hip pockets and hydration sleeve zippers plus  I can open and close them because of the mitten friendly pull tabs. Yay for warm hands!

This pack carries heavy loads very well. Heavy loads are inherent to backcountry ski days when you have to carry required safety gear, extra layers, water & food plus you skis or board, so I really appreciate Ospreys efforts to ensure the weight goes right to your hips. Which it totally does, making wearing this pack all day for multiple days a breeze.

Kresta 30 Performance

Comfort

As mentioned before, loads are transferred to the hips and the harness system is comfy all day, everyday! Compared to other packs of similar volume, I find the Kresta 30 heavy. I believe this is because of the thicker, more durable fabric being used, which when you plan to sling sharp objects to it, makes perfect sense!

Functionality

Zippers are mitt/glove friendly and the pockets are all a good size and easy to get to. Get at your safety gear fast with an easy to spot red zip tab just for emergencies. Water stays un-frozen inside the pack and in the tube on the insulated shoulder harness. Helmet holder rocks my socks!

Durability

Ski edges don’t stand a chance against this rugged fabric! I’m in my second season of use and the bag still looks like new.

Final Thoughts on the Kresta 30

My go to bag for winter adventures. I love this pack and have gotten lots of comments about it while out and about with it. People can see it’s greatness! Two years later, I am still using the Kresta 30 for all my winter adventures and it’s in great shape.
