As part of the Get Out There gear review team, I have just finished reviewing the Merrell Capra Mid Sport Gore-tex Hikers!
These eye-catching boots can go everywhere – on dog walks around the neighbourhood, snowshoeing on local trails, out and around town and to the tops of the mountains.
The Capra is sure-footed, lightweight, and keeps my feet dry with its GORE-TEX waterproof membrane as it repels moisture and enhances breathability for all activities.
The synthetic leather and mesh upper creates the Stratafuse™ exoskeleton foot cage for extreme lightweight durability while the metal hooks and a variety of eyelets, provide secure lacing.
The Capra Mid’s have a supportive mid-sole with a molded nylon arch shank which provides support and keeps the boot from twisting. The EVA molded footbed and Merrell air cushion in the heel helps absorb impact.
Lilac/Adventurine. Merrell maintains sole quality with the Vibram® MegaGrip outsole featuring 3mm lugs that keeps you connected to the trail, no matter the surface conditions.
I found the Capra’s run about a ½ size large and are a bit stiff out of the box, requiring some break in to soften them up. This boot really impressed me with its moisture management while snowshoeing, waterproofness when fully submerged, and underfoot stability when navigating over rough terrain.
I believe this boot is great for all types of hikers, weekend warriors to long distance through hikers, the Merrell Capra will handle anything you throw at it. I am really looking forward to the snow melt so me and the Capra’s can hit the trails!
