A Trekking Pack… for Toddlers
Osprey took everything we love about their adult packs and built it into a kid carrier. And let me tell you — they nailed it. The Poco Child Carrier carries just like a real trekking pack thanks to the lightweight aluminum frame and their Anti-Gravity suspension system. That means it’s actually comfortable for the grown-up (Will swears by it), even when fully loaded with a wiggly baby and snacks galore.
We’ve used this thing daily — dog walks, local hikes, and yes, even grocery shopping. It’s become our go-to baby transport system.

Why It Works for Us (and Rory)
Comfort First
Rory is always cozy thanks to the padded bum cushion, fleece-covered harness, and adjustable seat. She naps easily in it — which says everything. The foot stirrups are also clutch for longer outings, giving her little legs somewhere to rest.
Built-In Sunshade
Essential. Babies do not keep hats on. The integrated sunshade pops up and folds away easily — it’s become one of our favorite features.
Storage for Days
We love the hipbelt pockets for snacks (bunny crackers, obviously), plus the big front stretch pocket and zippered bottom compartment. Diapers, sunscreen, juice boxes — it all fits.
Hydration Ready
There’s a hydration sleeve in the back panel, which we use on longer hikes to keep everyone from getting cranky.
A Few Things We Miss…
This newer model lost the side mesh water bottle pockets — a sad day for those of us who like to reach and sip without taking off the pack. And while we opted for the rain cover, it doesn’t actually cover the entire back pocket. Kind of a head-scratcher for a product in this price range.
If you can find the 2022–2023 version used, go for it — we couldn’t, so we went new. Even with those missing features, the Poco still beats every other kid carrier we’ve tried.
Final Thoughts: Worth It?
Despite the price tag and a couple design quirks, we love this pack. It’s made our lives way easier, and Rory loves the ride. The Osprey Poco delivers trail-worthy comfort and day-to-day convenience — and makes parenting on the move feel way more manageable.
