Snowshoeing Bay of Islands & Humber Valley is a great way to enjoy winter and there are many great trails in the area worth exploring. Snowshoeing is a great, beginner friendly way to get outdoors and on the go this season!
To Get Started
- If you need snowshoes check out my post about choosing snowshoes and then head over to Ski World or Cycle Solutions and get your pair.
- For full trail descriptions I would encourage you pick up a copy of Hikes of Western Newfoundland. Numbers listed below refer to the hike # in the book (ex. Bottle Cove = HWNL#13)
Before You Go
- Check the weather. I like Environment Canada!
- Be sure to dress for the weather - here are my tips for dressing for cold weather!
- Take a day pack and take these essentials
And you don't have to snowshoe alone!
In the area, there are groups that meet up to go out on Facebook as well as Pasadena Ski & Nature Park offers guided snowshoe walks, and Cycle Solutions hosts bi-weekly snowshoe outings which can be quite adventurous!
